Mary Anderson, 96, of Altamont, died at 7:17 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church, Altamont with Justin Grieder officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, the First United Methodist Church, Altamont, or the donor's choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mary Sanders Anderson was born on Thursday, May 9, 1929 in Old Stonington, IL to John N., Sr., and Zelda E. (Wetzel) Sanders. She married Eldon C. 'Andy' Anderson on November 4, 1950 and he preceded her in death on February 17, 1974. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Altamont and a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked in the medical field. Mary enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, and playing golf and pinochle.
She is survived by; her sons, Tom (Karen Anderson-Bowlin) Anderson, Dyersburg, TN, Alan (Joyce) Anderson, Effingham, Curt (Denise) Anderson, Largo, FL and Gary (Lisa) Anderson, Hamilton, OH; daughters, Paula (Mark) Greider, Indianapolis, IN and Susan (Mike) Hoffmeister, Altamont; sister-in-law. JoAnn Sanders, Des Moines, IA; brother-in-law, Bob Hull, Waverly, OH; grandchildren, Valeri (Shawn) Carlton, Stephanie (Daniel) Norman, Justin (Jules) Greider, Andy (Heather) Greider, Michelle (Darrell) Davis, Travis Anderson, Ryan Anderson, Amy (Dustin) Eckhardt, Nick Anderson, Kevin Hoffmeister, Kristi (Chad) Ingram, Austin Anderson, Evan Anderson, and Kyle Anderson; and 23 Great-Grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by; her son, Jay Anderson; brothers, John Jr. 'Jack' (Marian) Sanders, Jim (Linda) Sanders, and Ralph Sanders; sisters, Becky Hull and Nina (John) Bradbury; Grandchildren, Chelsea and Kate Anderson.
