Mary Antu Obituary

Mary Helen Antu
March 19, 1937 - February 20, 2025
Mary Helen Coy Antu, born to Frances and Lawrence Coy on March 19, 1937, entered eternal rest on February 20, 2025, at the age of 87 years.

Mary Helen was an accomplished seamstress, where she retired after many years from Levi Strauss, under the direction of Santone Industries. Her passion for sewing continued until her final days, with multiple sewing machines and supplies housed in her 'sewing room'. Her home was adorned with her custom curtains and drapes throughout. She was also an expert cook who could, and would, prepare delicious, full-course meals without the slightest hesitation. Her home was the gathering place for holidays and other special occasions, and she took great pride in preparing meals for family and friends alike. This was also an opportunity for her to teach her kids, grandkids and even great-grandkids some of her special recipes and techniques, to include her wonderful baked goods.
Mary Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, the love of her life, Sifredo 'Fred' Antu. She was also preceded in death by her great grandchildren, Alexander and Penelope Aguillen.

Mary Helen is survived by her daughter, Rosalinda (Armando) Espinoza; step-daughters, Mickey (Joel) Urias, Toni Antu and Frances Antu; Grandchildren, Erika (Oscar) Reyna, Amanda (Alex) Aguillen, A.J. Espinoza, Nathan Espinoza (Hadasa), Eric Carreon, Kira (Brian) Carte, Tiffany (Alex) Shattuck, Kyle Urias, Emilio Guerra, Samantha Guerra, Jacob Rocha and Joshua Rocha; Great-Grandchildren, Lillian Reyna, Charlotte Reyna, Samuel Reyna, Benjamin Aguillen, Nicholas Aguillen, Vivienne Aguillen, Matteo Espinoza, Tristan Jackson, Roman Shattuck, Lincoln Shattuck and Ryan Guerra. 'Granny', as she was affectionately known, marveled in all her grands and great-grands, and was always a presence in their lives.

She is also survived by her brothers, Frank Robinson and Joe Morrelli; and sister Annie Coy Carrico.

A special thanks to the wonderful team of providers at Gentiva Hospice and her personal night nurses, Gloria and Joanne for their compassionate care.

A visitation and Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Mission Alamo Funeral Home.

Graveside Service will be conducted at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #1, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice.

In honor of Mrs. Antu's wishes, her request was that everyone would please wear bright colors to the service.
