Mary's journey through life was shared for 56 wonderful years with her late husband, Edward James Auer Sr., with whom she built not only a family but also a thriving business. Together, they owned and operated United Septic and United Services in Bristol, IL, a testament to their teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit. Mary's role in the business was not just behind the scenes; she was a driving force, known for her astute business sense and her ability to connect with customers and employees alike.
Her legacy continues through her loving family, including her children, Steven (Kelly) Auer of Sandwich, Edward James Auer Jr., and Sara Buchanan of Plano. Mary was the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy. Mary was blessed to have the closest relationship with her granddaughter Crystal and her 6 kids (Great Grandkids) Noa, Neveah, Nolan, Nixon, Nash and Novalee as they spent every week together at Mary's FARM in Bristol enjoying life and making endless memories together. She was also a devoted sister to Ellen (the late Bob) Davies. Mary's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life, and the memories created with them are treasures that will be cherished forever.
Mary's interests and hobbies were as rich and varied as the life she led. She had an eye for antiques and found great pleasure in shopping for unique treasures. Her love for travel was shared with her husband, Ed, as they explored destinations like Maine and Hawaii and enjoyed the relaxation of cruises. Mary's culinary skills were legendary among family and friends, especially her French Toast, Stuffing, Lasagna, Spaghetti, and her "famous" Macaroni and Cheese. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of home-cooked meals.
Described by those who knew her as loving, generous, and selfless, Mary's impact on her community and loved ones was profound. She had a gift for making everyone feel special and valued, whether through her thoughtful gestures, her willingness to lend an ear, or her ability to offer wise counsel when it was needed most. Mary's presence was a comfort and a joy, and her absence will be deeply felt by all.
Mary Catherine Auer's life was a tapestry woven with love, hard work, and dedication to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, a family that adores her, and a community that respects her. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Mary's journey on earth has ended, but the love and light she shared will continue to shine brightly, guiding and inspiring us for generations to come
