A Private Graveside Service will be held at Fountain Memorial Cemetery in
Lafayette, LA for Robert 'Bobby' McPhedran, 74, who passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor in
Lafayette, LA.
Reverend Weldon Moak, of Broussard, LA, will officiate.
Inurnment will be in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in
Lafayette, LA.
Robert McPhedran, affectionately known as Bobby, was born September 26, 1951, in La Salle, IL and was a long-time resident of Acadiana. He graduated from La Salle Peru High School in La Salle, Illinois, Class of 1969. As a proud veteran, Bobby served as a PFC in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal with a distinction of Expert M-16.
After his time in the service, Bobby worked in the restaurant and food industry working with chefs like Paul Prudhomme where he helped promote one of Louisiana's most favorite Thanksgiving birds, the Turducken.
Bobby later found a new and rewarding career as a pool builder, starting his own pool company, Genesis Pools in 2002. During his almost 20 years in the pool industry, Bobby brought pleasure and enjoyment to many backyards in and around the Acadiana area.
After his retirement in 2018, Bobby found enjoyment sitting in his rocker on his front porch sipping coffee and watching his two precious fur babies, London and Milan play in the front yard. He loved reading western and espionage novels and watching the History Channel. As an avid sports lover, Bobby enjoyed watching all forms of sports with football and the New Orleans Saints being his favorites.
Bobby is survived by his life partner, Rhoda Ann Cormier, of
Lafayette, LA; his two sons, Neil Ferrari, of
Rock Island, IL and Kyle McPhedran, of
Chicago, IL; his daughter, Hilary Antolak, of
Oswego, IL; his three brothers, James A. McPhedran and his wife, Treva, of Peru Township, IL, William J. McPhedran, of
Windsor Heights, IA and David J. McPhedran, Sr., and his wife, Michelle, of La Salle, IL; his three sisters, Laurie C. Frederiksen and her husband, Chris, of Peoria, IL, Mary P. Bienemann, of Peru Township, IL and Sara A. Zibert and her husband, Bob, of
Beloit, WI; his "special nephew", Kavon Valliere and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Paula V. Carson McPhedran; his uncle, John 'Jack' McPhedran and his aunt, Zoe Morrissey.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor, as well as Dr. Akshey K. Gupta for the compassionate care given to Bobby and his family.
