Mary Annette Baker, beloved matriarch and dedicated professional, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in Florence, Kentucky. Born on April 26, 1936, in Covington, Kentucky, Mary lived a life marked by her good work ethic and generous spirit, leaving a profound impact on those who knew her.
For over 45 years, Mary devoted herself to her career as a meat cutter, working with Kroger and various other companies throughout Cincinnati and Kentucky. Her hard work was only matched by her kind-hearted nature; Mary had the biggest heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Friends and family alike admired her for her unwavering kindness and support.
Mary cherished the time spent with her loved ones. She was a proud mother and grandmother, finding her greatest joy in her family. She is survived by her son, Robert (Tashena Simpson) Velez; her grandchildren, Kyla Lynn Eggleston, Kailyn Annette Velez, Steven Michael Simpson, Kiley Taylor, Shelby McGuire and Danielle Velez; and a host of other family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
Her interests included traveling, with a particular fondness for going on cruises, as well as enjoying the excitement of the casino. Mary loved to create memories with her family and friends, embracing life to the fullest.
Mary is preceded in death by her father, James Jesse Chipman; her mother, Allean Lewin (nee Young); her husband, Bill Baker; and her son, Michael Wayne Baker. Their memory will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
As we remember Mary Annette Baker, we celebrate her life—marked by love, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to family. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A private burial will take place at Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell where she will be laid to rest next to Bill.
