It is with both heavy hearts and joyful memories that we celebrate the life of Mary Elizabeth Banta, who left us peacefully on November 22, 2025. Born on February 23, 1942 in Vincennes, IN, to the late Chester & Hester Helderman, she was born with a passion for nurturing both her family and the earth. Mary truly exemplified the spirit of love and dedication in all that she did.
Mary embraced her role as a homemaker, dedicating countless hours to create a warm home for her family. She was known far and wide as an outstanding cook and a wonderful baker, delighting all with her culinary masterpieces that always seemed to capture the essence of comfort. Mary loved to garden, finding great pleasure in cultivating her vegetables and fruits, which she skillfully incorporated into her lovingly-prepared meals.
Mary cherished her time spent with family, creating memories that will forever be etched in their hearts.
Mary is survived by her children, Mason Banta of Vincennes, IN, Denah Perry and her husband Craig of Vincennes, IN, and Lesa Jacobs and her husband Rusty of Loogootee; her grandchildren, Brock Aaron Perry, Addison Ryan Hofferth, Vance Anthony Perry, and Brent Max Banta.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Max Banta; and her grandson, William Justin Hofferth.
Graveside services for Mary will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes, IN. Following the service, she will be laid to rest next to her husband Aaron.
