Mary Barca Obituary
(nee Genovese) On April 29, 2025, of Glassboro. Age 87. Beloved wife of the late Anthony "Nino" Barca. Devoted mother of Anna Marie D'Alessandro (Joseph), Josephine Barca (Richard), Philip Barca (Kimberly), and Daniel Barca (Tricia). Loving grandmother of Joseph, Nicholas, Dominic, Brendan, Philip, Anthony, and Sophia. Proud great-grandmother of Joseph III, and Lucca. Dear sister of the late Francesco Genovese, Antonio Genovese and Domenica Sena.
Maria was born in Barcellona Messina in Sicily on July 4, 1937. She came to America at the age of 17, settling in Glassboro where she worked as a seamstress. On February 16, 1958, she married the love of her life Nino. They had 4 beautiful children together. Maria was an excellent cook and was well known for her famous meatballs. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, going out to lunch with friends, walking the boardwalk and playing the slots at the casinos.
Maria was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her passing will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Tuesday 9:00-11:00 AM at St. Bridget's University Parish, 125 Church Street, Glassboro, NJ 08028. Mass of Christian Burial 11:15 AM. Interment St. Bridget's Cemetery, Glassboro.
In honor of Maria's life, in lieu of flowers or other acts of sympathy, her family would encourage donations to St. Bridget's University Parish at the address above.
