Mary was one of my teachers while attend UNM for my design degree in the late '90's. She became a very close friend during that time. I credit her so much for helping me through a very dark period of my own loss, she not only provided direction in art/design aspects, but with live itself. If she saw something in you, she didn't push, but she nudged you in the direction you needed to go in. I am so blessed to have had Mary in my life during my years in Gallup. You will be missed.

Mary has been a friend to my husband and me for many years. We met
taking classes from her at UNM long ago. Time in her presence was fun,
offer challenging and always a joy. She gave new meaning to instruction with a life dedication to students. Mary left our world a better place.
Our Heartfelt condolences go to her family and friends.

It was a pleasure to know Mary during our time in Gallup. She was a bright light among us; she was creative, funny, and generous. She'll definitely be missed but was so beloved by many. RIP, Mary. Fly high!

I always looked for Mary's help when I visited Waldenbooks when I was little because I knew she would know what I was looking for. I got to know her more when she hosted Ewa from Poland. She was very generous with her time to chaperone our High School Class trip. She had a lovely smile and a wonderful sense of humor. I remember she invited me to the Balloon Fiesta adventures with Ewa. It was a great trip! Thank you to the family for your warm hospitality of that wonderful weekend. Our love and prayers are with you always!

The Storybook Village of Pentwater family, friends, visitors, and children of all ages, will always remember our "Miss Mary" with love. Mary was the friendly and welcoming voice everyone heard when they entered our store and she meant it with all her heart! Whether you were a familiar visitor or a newcomer, it wouldn't take long for Mary to let you, and especially your child, know that she is genuinely interested in them and eager to help in any way. Mary's charm and gentle nature was captivating to young and young at heart and her vast knowledge in children's literature, as well as in many other subjects, was extraordinary. In addition to her love of people and genuine interest in their well-being, Mary loved animals of every kind! When Tom and I adopted "Charlie", our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, she became our mentor and Charlie's very special friend. Mary knew all about dogs as she adored her own sweet "Woody", an elderly Dachsund and best friend for many years. Oh, how we will all miss our Mary, as she touched so many of our lives in so many ways, but in her path we can still see her footprints and follow her example of love and kindness to all creatures great and small! Mary would just love to be remembered this way and we will do just that! We send our deepest condolences to Mary's family and will keep you all in our prayers.
Warmly, Barbara and Tom Sims

I met Mary on a Chamber of Commerce trip to Peru. She was a great traveling companion. She was vivacious, funny, intelligent, and very civic-minded. I wish I had a chance to know her longer and travel with her again. I am sure that she will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.

We only met Mary a few times when she was visiting with her family at the cabin in Seven Springs, NM, but we have enjoyed knowing her brother John, sister Janie & her husband Mike for a very long time now. They have shared many great stories about the family with us.
