Mary Ann Beller

Mary Ann Beller, a beloved long-time resident and business owner of Twentynine Palms, passed away peacefully in Chandler, Arizona, on Jan. 12, 2025, at the age of 93.
Born on April 17, 1931, in Lindsay, Oklahoma, she was the second daughter of James Wilburn and Margaret White.
Mary Ann moved to Twentynine Palms in 1958 with her husband, Albert Beller, who became the well-known pharmacist at Kenny's Drugstore, which they joined in partnership with Edward Kenny. Together, they embarked on a journey of entrepreneurship that would leave a lasting impact on the community. Mary Ann and Albert went on to create KB Mart and KB Liquor, later taking over 29 Palms Liquor and founding Adobe Liquor, becoming mainstays in the local economy and fostering connections with countless residents.
Beyond her business ventures, Mary Ann was a devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend.
She was a passionate quilter, sharing her love for the craft with many, and her home, aka The Beller House, was a welcoming haven for friends and family alike. After the passing of her sister, Mary Ann lovingly raised her sister's children, providing them with a supportive and nurturing environment. She also opened her heart and home to many who found solace and support under her roof during their teenage years.
Mary Ann is survived by her loving family, including her children Patti Garvin and Willi Beller, as well as her niece and nephews Leo Black Jr., Randy Black Sr., Gary Black, Michael Black and Peggy Jo Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, her parents, her daughters Pamela O'Connor and Angela Hoffman, her son Albert Beller, her sister, Peggy Jo Black and her nephew Jim Black Sr.
As a grandmother to 27 and a great-grandmother to countless others, Mary Ann's legacy of love and generosity will continue to thrive through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
A celebration of Mary Ann's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the 29 Palms Cemetery, followed by a gathering at the 29 Palms Inn at noon.
In honoring her memory, we remember a remarkable woman who lived fully, loved deeply, and inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her.
