In Honor of our Very Special Grammy
Mary Anne Broe (nee Wanstrath), returned to the Lord on January 9, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her parents June A. (Behrens) and Robert P. Wanstrath (stepmother Virginia Kroeger Wanstrath).
She passed away peacefully at her home next to her dearly beloved husband of 51 years, Michael F. Broe.
Favorite Mother of John (the late Shannon) Broe, Margaret (Scott) Leighton, Katie (Jack) Belinski, James (Lindsay) Broe, and Thomas (Elli) Broe.
Affectionately known as Grammy or Graham Cracker, she found abundant joy and pride in her grandchildren Connor, Annabelle, and Gavin Leighton, Luke, Allison, and Bobby Belinski, Halston and Heidi Broe, and George and Anne Broe.
They brought her endless happiness, filling her heart and soul with love as they created cherished memories together.
Beloved sister of the late Bob (Julie) Wanstrath, Dennis (Elaine) Wanstrath, Ellen and (the late Dan Wagner), the late Mary Jo Anne (the late Ed) Lameier, the late Len (Diana) Kroeger, Kathy (the late Matt) Guilfoyle, Ronnie (John) Dawson, Marie Kroeger, the late Eileen Kroeger, and the late Kenny Kroeger. Dear sister-in-law to Mary Nicolay. Survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as friends whom she tightly embraced as family.
Mary Anne had great adoration for her family, travel, food, fine wine, and reading, which pivoted to audio books as macular degeneration took its reigns on her eye sight.
She was fortunate to spend some of her final days enjoying the sunshine of Florida, toasting in the New Year with good champagne, and snuggling her newborn granddaughter.
May serenity be felt by all who knew her as she cast a final bushel, peck, and firm hug around each neck.
Those who would like to honor her are invited to a visitation Thursday, January 22, from 10-11am at Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church, 5935 N. Pandora Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45213. Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to Pregnancy Center East, 4760 Madison Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45227, and/or The Cincinnati Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 2045 Gilbert Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45202.
