Mary Rose Busteed
Mary, a beacon of love and creativity, passed away unexpectedly on December 5, 2025, in Waukesha, at the age of 82. Born on August 15, 1943, in Milwaukee, Mary lived a life marked by generosity, a passion for crafting, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Mary's life was a testament to the power of love. She was married to her beloved husband, Richard Busteed, for 56 wonderful years, a union that was both a partnership and an adventure. Together, they raised three sons, Shawn, with his life partner Marie Bujard, Doug, and Pat, with his wife Kerri. Mary's joy multiplied with the arrival of her grandchildren, Anna and Nathan, and she embraced Mikael, Samuel, and Bea as honorary grandchildren. Her family circle also included her cherished nieces and nephew, Kim, David (Jacqui) and Gale. Each family member was touched by her loving spirit, and she held a special place in the heart of Larry, her loyal Golden Retriever.
A devout Christian, Mary's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort and strength throughout her journey. Her love for her family was paralleled only by her love for travel. Mary had special friendships that lasted decades. Some of them crafted with her, enjoyed finding a good deal, and others were her companions on many trips, where they shared in the joy of beautiful views, delectable food, and the creation of lasting memories.
Butterflies captured Mary's imagination, and she found beauty in their delicate grace. Her home was often adorned with butterfly motifs, reflecting her love for these ethereal creatures. Mary possessed a remarkable talent for turning mundane into the extraordinary. With her hands and imagination, she could craft solutions and projects that brought joy and color into the world.
An outdoor enthusiast, Mary cherished her time in her garden, surrounded by the flowers she nurtured with care. This love of nature was something she shared enthusiastically with her grandchildren, teaching them the names of each bloom and the joy of watching something grow.
The birth of her first grandchild marked a new chapter in Mary and Richard's lives. From that moment on, life was filled with even more laughter, love, and purpose. Mary's legacy is one of a life well-lived and a family well-loved. Her loving, generous, and creative spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Mary Busteed's life story is a reminder to cherish each day, to find joy in the simple things, and to always keep family and friends close to our hearts. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her influence will be felt for generations to come.
