Mary Darlene (Roberts) Butcher, age 95 passed on 11/25/2025 after a brief illness.
She is predeceased by her husband Leo Butcher, her mother, Mabel (Talbott) Roberts, father Glenn D. Roberts, sister Reba Jo (Roberts) Pate and brother-in-law Everett Pate.
She is survived by her sister, Glenn Ann Kiel of Murphysboro, IL, daughter, Linda D. (Butcher) Roberts and son-in-law, Marlin R. Roberts of Kansas City, Mo., grandsons Matthew R. Roberts (Amy) of Parkville, Mo. and Zachary B. Roberts (Amy) of Parkville, Mo. and great granddaughters Aspen Roberts, Savannah Roberts and Sagan Roberts.
Ms. Butcher was born in Murphysboro, Illinois and graduated from Murphysboro High School in 1947. She attended Southern Illinois University- Carbondale and studied accounting.

She married her high school sweetheart, Leo Butcher, in 1948 in Murphysboro, Illinois. They moved to Du Quoin, Illinois in 1950 when her husband transferred jobs with General Telephone Company. Ms. Butcher worked as a secretary for the General Telephone office, a bookkeeper for Copelands Oldsmobile, and as ticket manager for the Du Quoin State Fair. She was a member of the First Baptist Church while residing in Du Quoin. She and her husband were avid golfers. The couple retired and moved to North Kansas City, Mo. in 1989 to be close to their daughter, son-in-law and grandsons and their families.

Ms. Butcher was the family matriarch and was very loving, kind and compassionate. She was a longtime member of North Cross United Methodist Church, Kansas City, Mo. Mary was a big KC Chiefs fan. She will be cremated and there will be a private family gathering in the memorial garden at the church in the Spring where her remains will be placed next to her husband.
