Mary M. Bokulich Cairns

Mary M. Bokulich Cairns, 83, of McDonald, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family Thursday, October 9, 2025. Mary was born June 27, 1942, in Bulger, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Tizik Bokulich. In 1966 she married her beloved husband, Wilfred "Bo" Cairns and shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Mary and her late husband, Bo enjoyed traveling. The two enjoyed cruises and Mary loved touring different parts of the world and always made time for a stop at the casino. When home, Mary always made sure her house was filled with the people she loved the most, her family. Mary was a very proud mother and grandmother. She loved spending time in her kitchen cooking, baking, and entertaining her family. Mary loved to host holidays and enjoyed opening her home to her family and friends. Surviving are her children, Melissa (Kevin) Cronin, Jeffrey (Autumn) Cairns, Chris (Beth) Cairns; grandchildren, Nathan Cronin, Nolan and Avery Cairns, and Adelynn Cairns; sister, JoAnne Bokulich; brother-in-law, Richard Antoszeski; sister-in-law, Judy Bischoff; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was always on the go, working numerous jobs which included secretarial work at Consolidated Rubber in Pittsburgh, Hills in Carnegie, and most recently retired at 81 from Macy's. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church in McDonald and also a member of the Christian Mothers Association. Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilfred "Bo" Cairns (2020); and siblings, Irene (Russell) Sekelik, Patricia (George) Kvak and Veronica Antoszeski. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 12, in Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Avenue, McDonald (724-926-2800). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 13, in St. Isidore the Farmer Parish - St. Alphonsus Church. Departing prayers will be said in the funeral home before Mass on Monday. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. The family would like to thank Gateway Hospice for the care, support, and compassion they extended to Mary and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to Gateway Hospice or St. Jude’s, in her memory.
