Mary Campbell

Mary Campbell entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in Mobile, Alabama. Born on November 27, 1937, in Basin, Mississippi, she was a cherished daughter of the late Ollie and Laura Lawrence and was one of nine siblings.

Mary's early years were filled with joy, family, and a fierce determination that carried her through life. She graduated from Oak Grove High School in Lucedale, Mississippi, where she shined both academically and athletically-especially on the basketball court, playing point guard with passion and skill. Her work ethic was unmatched, as she held positions at Singing River Power Company and South Mississippi Home Health. As a true entrepreneur at heart, Mary proudly owned and operated her own transportation company for several years, providing reliable service and building lasting relationships in her community. Her drive, independence, and generosity touched many lives. Attorney Buster and Sandra Middlebrooks and their beloved pets Angel, Zack, and Jack played a huge role in her life after retirement.

Mary's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was deeply rooted in her church community, where she spent her time worshiping, singing, and sharing her love for God. Her spiritual devotion was passed down to her children, who carry her legacy of faith and music in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son Michael Carl Campbell, son-in-law Lyle P. Williams, parents Ollie and Laura Lawrence, and siblings Georgia Street, Annie Holmes, Juanita Epps, E.V., Russell, Jack, John Lawrence, and ex-husband Willie M. Campbell. Though she has departed this world, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, four living children: her only daughter Kathy Williams of Memphis TN; her sons Phillip (Bamie) Campbell, Will (Mary) Campbell, Baton Rouge, LA; Christopher (Traci) Campbell one daughter-in-law Penny Campbell Semmes, AL; and sister Alice (Eugene) Black Brookhaven, MS. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory.

Mary's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with faith, family, resilience, and joy. Her laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love will continue to echo in the lives she touched.
