Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory - Peachtree Corners Chapel on Jan. 9, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Certusi, age 95, who peacefully entered eternal life on January 5, 2026. Mary was born on September 8, 1930, in
Peabody, Massachusetts, to the late Walter Murdza and Anna Leoz Murdza. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by love, warmth, and an unwavering devotion to her family.
Mary shared a remarkable love story with her beloved husband, John A. Certusi, who preceded her in death in 2000. Their journey together began with a chance meeting in the aisles of a local grocery store - a simple moment that grew into a beautiful partnership spanning nearly five decades. Even after John's passing, Mary carried him in her heart each day, cherishing the memories and love they built together.
A longtime resident of Suwanee, Georgia, Mary was known for her vivacious spirit, sharp sense of humor, and vibrant personality. She delighted in life's simple pleasures - shopping at Hobby Lobby (where she knew every aisle by heart), browsing online (especially Amazon), and spending countless hours connecting with her many Facebook friends. Above all else, Mary's greatest joy was her family. Time spent together, laughter shared, and memories made were what mattered most to her. Christmas was especially dear to her, filled with cherished traditions and family gatherings, and when it came to the season, no one matched her enthusiasm or joy.
Mary was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind a legacy rooted in love. She is survived by her sons, Jim and John, and John's wife Connie, whom Mary lovingly referred to as "the daughter she never had." She is also survived by her grandchildren Jimmy Certusi, Johnny Certusi and his wife Jordyn, and Jaime Certusi Cross and her husband Chandler; and by her great-grandchildren Henry Certusi and Jessie Cross, who brought her immeasurable joy. Mary is also survived by her siblings, Richard Murdza and Eleanor Coughlin. She was preceded in death by her brother Russell Murdza.
A woman of deep faith, Mary embraced her Catholic beliefs throughout her life, drawing strength, comfort, and guidance from them.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Mary's life at a visitation on Wednesday, January 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home, 5051 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard,
