Rickey O'Neal Newton

Rickey O'Neal Newton was born on July 31, 1952, to the late Ralph and Hattie Mae Newton. At an early age, just ten years old, he joined Hopewell Baptist Church, where his faith began and remained with him throughout his life.

Rickey attended Norcross High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1970. After high school, he worked for Gaston Associates right here In Norcross for many years. Later, he followed In his father's footsteps and went Into the construction trade. As his health changed, Rickey was no longer able to do the physical work he once did, and eventually, he couldn't attend church services In person. Still, his faith never left him, and he stayed connected by faithfully watching services online.

Rickey loved the simple things In life. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music at concerts In the park, and spending time with family at gatherings. He also had an Incredible memory. If you wanted to know family history, Rickey was the one to ask, and you probably didn't want to challenge him on It. He knew his facts.

Above all, Rlckey will be remembered as a loving son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, and friend. His presence, his stories, and his quiet strength meant so much to so many.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved son, Rodrick Newton; Siblings: Beverly (Charles-deceased) Turner, Ronald (Gail) Newton, Craig (Lynn) Newton, Wanda (Jerry) Fulton, Dana (Willie) Hines, Noland Newton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, A special cousin, Barbara Barker, and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services for Rickey will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop William L. Sheals officiating. Entombment will be held privately at Peachtree Memorial Park. Friends are welcome to gather with family on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory and again on Friday, February 6, 2026 beginging at 10:30 am at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
