Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory - Buford Chapel on Feb. 17, 2026.
With heavy hearts - and countless great stories to tell - we celebrate the life of Harold Alfred Trip, Jr., who passed away on February 10, 2026, at the age of 79.
Born on February 22, 1946, in
San Antonio, Texas, to the late Harold Alfred Trip Sr., and Beatrice Theresa Burell Trip; also preceding Harold in death was his loving son, Chance Landyn Trip. Harold grew up in the Alsatian town of Castroville where he attended Medina Valley High and what is now Texas State University. This is where his life long love for horses and passion for horsemanship was developed. Harold lived boldly, worked tirelessly, and loved deeply. In
Buford, Georgia, he built not just a home, but a life full of laughter and love with his devoted wife of 39 years, Renée. Together, they created a partnership rooted in loyalty, joy, and unwavering support.
Harold was a natural entrepreneur with a sharp eye for opportunity and a drive that never quit. In the real estate industry, his determination and business savvy set him apart. Harold was passionate about preserving the historic Longhorn breed. He loved the challenge of breeding and raising quality Longhorns. But long before closing deals, he proudly served his country as a United States Marine - a role he carried with honor and pride throughout his life. The discipline, strength, and grit he developed in the Marines became hallmarks of the man everyone knew and respected.
Life, for Harold, was meant to be lived outdoors and at full speed. He felt most at home with boating friends on the lake, a pair of skis strapped on, or a game on television with something to cheer about. He was a devoted football fan who always knew this was the Dallas Cowboys' year, played minor league baseball for the New York Yankees, and was never one to turn down a competitive poker game with friends. He was a beloved youth football and baseball coach. Whether reeling in a catch, carving down a mountain, having a drink with friends or confidently pushing chips into the center of the table, Harold brought energy, enthusiasm, and just the right amount of competitive spirit.
Above all, Harold was a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Renée; his children, Trint Trip, Brooke Kaupert and husband Jason, Shane Trip, and Harold Trip III "Trey"; his brother and sister-in-law, Burell and Carolyn Trip; and his sister-in-law, Letisa McKenzie; his grandchildren Dyess Kaupert, Jason Kaupert, Tanner Trip, Tristin Trip and Jaxson Trip; and great granddaughter Staci Trip. His legacy also lives on in the many wonderful friends and extended family members who will forever cherish his stories, laughter, and larger-than-life presence.
Funeral services for Harold will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 2:00 pm, in the Buford Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory with Pastor Chuck Allen officiating. The family will gather with friends prior to the service beginning at 1:30 pm. Military funeral honors and burial will follow the service at Peachtree Memorial Park.
Harold didn't just pass through life - he made a lasting impression. In honoring his memory, the family invites all who knew him to come together to share stories, laughter, and love as we celebrate the man who truly lived life on his own terms. It's Been A Lovely Cruise!
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests tax deductible memorial donations to The American Legion post 127 Sugar Hill, GA, or the
American Cancer Society.
