Douglas Day Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory - Buford Chapel on Feb. 10, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Winfred Day, who departed this life peacefully on February 7, 2026, at the age of 64. Douglas was born on October 13, 1961, in Duluth, Georgia, and resided in Sugar Hill, Georgia, at the time of his passing.

Douglas was a devoted custodian at Buford City Schools, where he was known for his warm spirit and dedication to his work. A passionate lover of music, Douglas had a particular fondness for country and was skilled in playing a variety of instruments. His musical talent brought joy to many and served as a testament to his creative spirit. In addition to his musical abilities, Douglas enjoyed comedy movies, particularly the hilarious classics like Naked Gun and Airplane.

He was a proud truck owner and enjoyed taking drives that allowed him to embrace the open road, sharing countless adventures with his beloved dogs, Daisey and Dolly. Douglas was a man who cherished life, laughter, and the company of family and friends.

Douglas was preceded in death parents, George and Elise Day; sister, Anita Darlene Harrison; Uncles, Jerry Dodd and Dalmer Dodd; aunts, Evelyn Crane, Paulene Lane, Evelyn Cook, and Bobbie Bailey.

He is survived by his loving sister, Gwendolyn Pearson (Jerry); nieces, Aleafa Beylouni (Elie), Audrey Pearson, and Deanna White; uncles, Kenneth Dodd (Kay), Wayman Dodd (Elaine), aunt Jane Palmer (Adam); great nieces, Cayley White, Jazlyn White, and Ryleigh Baker; adopted nephews, Ethan and Brian Newell. Doug's warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services will be held in his honor on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 2:00pm, at the Buford Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Home, 201 Morningside Dr. Buford, GA 30518, with Bishop Greg Banks officiating. The visitation will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Douglas Winfred Day will be laid to rest at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, where he will no longer have to bear the trials of this world, but will live on in the memories and hearts of those he touched. May his legacy of joy, laughter, and love live on eternally.
