Mary Ann Champoux, 93, of Yakima and former Moxee resident, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, a Fieldstone Memory Care in Yakima.
Mary was born October 3, 1932 in Hanover, Kansas, to Tomas and Elsie (Luehring) Bailey. She was raised in Hanover, moving to the Yakima Valley in 1945. She attended East High (now known as East Valley High School. Mary Ann married Alan Champoux on March 28, 1951, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Moxee.
Mary did many things. She worked in retail, canneries, banking, and helping out on the family farm, but her main role was being a homemaker and mother.
Mary enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, and cooking/baking. She was known for her monster cookies, zucchini bread, and turkey and dumplings- a recipe she took to the grave. Mary always welcome anyone and everyone to the table.
Survivors include her children, Dennis (Theresa) Champoux, Peggy Champoux, and Cozette (Mike) Fischer, all of Yakima and Shirley Champoux, of Seattle, six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and her brother, Jim (Sue) Bailey.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Alan Champoux, parents Tomas and Elsie Bailey, and her four sisters.
Viewing will be held Friday, October 24, 2025 at 9:00am at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery. A Reception will be held after burial at Holy Rosary in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities, in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA) who is caring for the family.
