Mary Ann Clark

Mary Ann was born on February 6, 1945, in Redfield, South Dakota, to Henry and Marie Fuss. Mary Ann loved her parents' farm and the open space to play and pretend. Having completed her education in 1963, Mary Ann moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, where she worked for the chief inspector of the South Dakota Stock Growers Association. She thoroughly enjoyed dealing with the ranchers.
In 1964, Mary Ann married Frank Sunderland, and they had two sons. Frank, Mary Ann, and the boys moved to Sunnyside, Washington in 1976, where she was a manager for the Northrup King Company. In 1982, Frank and Mary Ann were divorced. Mary Ann continued living in Sunnyside, Washington, where she completed the best accomplishment of her life, raising her two sons. They were the light of her life and the wind in her sails. Mary Ann continued working in various managerial and accounting positions for local agricultural companies, including, Sun King Fruit Company, Apple King, LLC in Gleed, Washington, and Western Sweet Cherry Group.
In 2004, she married a dear friend and the love of her life, Delt Clark. She was so in love with him that she took up goose hunting, just to get more time to be with him. They enjoyed many memorable times in "the blind" as he tried to teach her the fine art of being quiet and saying "mark" when she spotted a duck, instead of yelling, "hey, duck!". With this marriage came Delts' two sons, one daughter, and five wonderful grandchildren.
Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially playing and cooking with her grandbabies. The kitchen was always full of laughter as messes were made, and the results of those messes were eaten. She was so devoted to her family and loved nothing more than having her house filled with them. Holidays were always a favorite, with the house decorated inside and out, and all kinds of gifts under the tree for everyone. She was known for her "Christmas room", which was filled with the purchases she'd made throughout the year for everyone on her list.
Mary Ann will best be remembered for her ready smile, her sense of humor, and her ability to see the funny side of life in most circumstances. She was always ready to lend her heart and hands to those in need. Mary Ann loved the outdoors and maintained a killer garden. She especially loved being around young people, always ready to fill their bottomless appetites with endless amounts of their favorite foods. She also loved teaching others to find their comfort zone in the kitchen, cultivating the joys of making meals they could be proud of.
Mary Ann's children will always remember a loving, caring mother, who always put them first. She was thrilled when she became a granny, enjoying every minute with her grandchildren, spoiling them as only a granny can. When Jason and Jerrod married, they brought her two wonderful daughters-in-law to enjoy and love, and three beautiful grandchildren that truly fulfilled her life. A wonderful addition, another grandbaby, came along, long after she thought she would be able to snuggle a newborn again.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Marie Fuss, her mother-in-law, Doris Clark, brothers, Raymond and Jerald Fuss, sister-in-law, Shirley Fuss, sister, Lorraine Fuss, and her youngest brother, Robert Fuss.
She leaves behind her husband of 20 years, Delt Clark, son, Jason Sunderland (Rita) of Lynnwood, Washington, son, Jerrod Sunderland of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Aaron Clark (Grace) of Yakima, Washington, Adam Clark of Livermore, California, and daughter, Kristie Dominguez (Tony) of Bellingham, Washington; grandchildren, Alexcia Sunderland, Makinley Sunderland, Tyler Sunderland, Victoria Sunderland, Madison Dominguez, Emi Dominguez, Dane Dominguez, Anders (Josie) Clark, Katheryn Clark; several nieces and nephews that were close to her in age, who she loved like sisters and brothers, and two very special sisters-in-law, Francelle Fuss, and Carol Fuss. Mary Ann now joins her parents, brothers, and sister to delight and regale the stories of her adventures. Life was good!
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mary Ann later in the spring (her favorite time of year) and will be announced separately.
