Mary Elizabeth Dean, 61, of Scranton, died Friday at Geisinger CMC.

Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late John Joseph and Ann Marie Ferguson Dean. A member of Divine Mercy Parish, Mary Beth was a graduate of Bishop Klonowski High School and attended Kings College. Until her retirement, she was employed by Herff Jones. She was a faithful devotee of St. Ann Parish and regularly attended the St. Ann's Basilica Novena. Mary Beth also strongly believed in and supported pro-life for her entire life. Mary Beth was devoted to her Catholic faith and was proud of her Irish ancestry. Her devotion to the "Fighting Irish" and her faithful prayers helped the team win games.

Mary Beth graciously loved everyone in her life and always took the time to check up on people, loved to host dinners, and knew everyone's birthdays. She was the one who kept her family together, and was dearly loved by many family, friends and co-workers.

Surviving are a sister, Ann Daday (Dr. Joseph); nieces, Helen Elizabeth Huston (David), and Marie Kristine Daday; nephews, Christopher Joseph, Jonathan, and Michael Daday; numerous great-nieces and nephews; cousins, Betsy Schauf and Colleen Lynch; and dear friend, Cathy Fraser.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, John J. Dean Jr.

The funeral will be Saturday with Mass at 11 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 312 Davis St., Scranton. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call Saturday, 9 to 10:30 a.m., at the Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St., Scranton PA 18505 or St. Ann's Basilica, 1233 St. Ann St., Scranton, PA 18504.
