Mary Christine Deen
Jacksonville - Mary Christine Deen, 82, of South Jacksonville, died Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. She was born June 3, 1943, at home in Ashland, the daughter of John "Buzz" and Lucille Bordenkircher Jones. She married Theodore Raymond Deen on June 8, 1968, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, and he survives.
Mrs. Deen is also survived by five children, Ann Marie (Kevin) Bobos of Lowell, Indiana, Pamela Sue (Edward) Hubbert of Springfield, Theodore Joseph (Sarah) Deen of Rochester, James Patrick (Kristin) Deen of Jacksonville, and Mary Elizabeth (Jason) Brands of Sherman; ten grandchildren, Katlyn (Jake) Smith of McCordsville, Indiana, Zachary Bobos of Irvine, California, Joselyne Bobos of Charlotte, North Carolina, Emily Lou (Dustin) Combs of Jacksonville, Anna Deen and Rachel Deen, both of Rochester, Grant Flynn of Springfield, Lauren Deen of Jacksonville, and Alaina Brands and Tyler Brands, both of Sherman; and three great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Naomi, and Audrey Smith. Mrs. Deen was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kate Deen, and her siblings, John Jones and Catherine Bernet.
Chris was raised in Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School. She went on to earn a degree from Quincy College and returned to Ashland to teach. After she and Ted started their family, she decided to stay at home and raise her family. Chris was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of Church of Our Saviour. She was involved in providing countless meals for funeral luncheons and other events and was also involved in the prayer chain. She also devoted many hours to volunteering at the Jacksonville Food Center. She cherished her family and always enjoyed family gatherings, which always included the infamous veggie tray.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Williamson Funeral Home, with burial at Calvary Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 12-2 Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Church of Our Saviour or the Jacksonville Food Center.
