AUBURN: Mary Lou (Lenart) Delongchamp, 77, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on
Tuesday, November 14, 2023 in St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her loving family after
a long, courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Bruno and Catherine Lenart.
Mary Lou grew up in Worcester where she graduated from Classical High School in 1964.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gerard E. Delongchamp of 54 years, her three sons,
Daniel G. Delongchamp and his wife Therese of Worcester, Jon-Michael Delongchamp and
his wife Shelly of Holden, and Timothy Delongchamp and his fiancé Goretti Pacheco of
Franklin. She was also survived by her eight beloved grandchildren: Hannah, Ryan, Luke,
Josephine, Sarah, Lilah, Frances, and Gerard. Mary Lou was also survived by her two
brothers, John Lenart and his wife Drusilla of Virginia Beach, and Bruno Lenart II and his
wife Laurie of Ashburnham.
Mary Lou was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Grandma), sister, aunt, and friend.
Much of Grandma's world revolved around her children and grandchildren. She was an
avid and supportive attendee of all their events and activities. Mary Lou was also an
extremely talented and humble artist known for her beautiful painted pottery and floral
arrangements, which she generously shared and gifted to family and friends. She enjoyed
crafting and baking for loved ones, watching films, and playing the penny slots with her
husband. Mary Lou was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and active member of the
Auburn community. She was a bright light of creativity, craft, and care. She will be sincerely
and sorely missed but remembered with great admiration, gratitude, and love.
Mary Lou was a caretaker at heart and her love for raising children extended beyond her
home. Once her three boys were grown, she worked as a nanny for numerous families in
the area. Mary Lou was later employed by the Auburn Public Schools as an Instructional
Assistant, where she worked for many years in several elementary school classrooms. In
this role, she thrived in support of her many students. Her genuine love for children greatly
impacted many lives both inside and outside of her family.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 20 at 11:00 am at North American
Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn, MA. Family and friends attending the funeral are
