Mary Demland Obituary
Mary was born February 11, 1929 to George and Nora Belle (Hornish) Steingass in Defiance. She graduated from Jewel High School. On October 10, 1948 she married Melvin L. Demland. Mary was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church, Defiance.
Mary is survived by her loving husband Melvin; children: Lois (Larry) Weber, Barbara (Gary) Oedy, Karen (Rex) Shreve and Tim (Sue) Demland; 11 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and siblings: Jane Brubaker and Ron Steingass. She was preceded in death by siblings: George Steingass, Loa Zachrich, Bealuh Mansfield, Ken Steingass, Paul Steingass, Martha Schmitz, Jim Steingass and Phyllis McBride.
Friends will be received the Zachrich Family Funeral Home of Holgate on Thursday from 4-7:00 pm. The Celebration of Mary's Life will be in the funeral home on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. Memorial contributions can be made to the Defiance Area Youth for Christ or Gideans International.
