Mary Louise Pay Pay was born December 7, 1943, at Old Cheyenne Agency, SD, to Fred and Christine (Pretty Bear) Pay Pay.
Mary and Doyle Dennis crossed paths on a "night out" in Lantry, SD. After a few months of dating, Doyle and Mary decided forever was in their future. They became man and wife on December 15, 1971.Together they had six wonderful children: Jesse, Christine, David, Rose, Melissa, and Michael.
During their life together Doyle and Mary lived in several places, including their ranch at Faith, SD, Eagle Butte, SD and many other places. In the course of this time, their first son, Jesse, was born. When they moved to Blackfoot, SD they had their first daughter, Christine. Soon after, David, Rose, Melissa, and Michael were all born and their family was complete.
Mary had several hobbies which she enjoyed. She loved her video games; from configuring levels of Super Mario World to collecting the rings in Sonic the Hedgehog. Amongst her favorite was the card game "500" and the dice games Yahtzee and "10,000", in which she liked to cheat by changing people's dice to all "1's". She loved fishing with Doyle as she was his favorite right hand fishing partner……although, she DID NOT like when the fish would bite. We also cannot forget how much Mary loved to dance to any and all old-time country music.
Mary had many wonderful characteristics. Filled with quiet strength and deep wisdom, her hands were rarely still. Constantly moving with purpose, from taking care of her children to making all her favorite soups. She taught her family endless values, many of which will continue to live on through her family. Above all, Mary was a devoted mother and proud grandmother. She lived an exceedingly full life with her loving husband and children by her side to the very end.
Mary's spirit will live on in the quiet rustle of the prairie grasses, in the sweet scent of lilacs on the breeze. She will live on forever in all of our cherished memories.
Mary is survived by her husband: Doyle J. Dennis; her children: Jesse (Kristan) Dennis of Eagle Butte, Christine (Joe) Martindale of Isabel, David (Melissa) Dennis of Eagle Butte, Rosie Dennis (Dale Erhart) of Eagle Butte, Melissa Dennis (John Schad Sr.) of Eagle Butte, and Michael Dennis (Nina Good House) of Eagle Butte; brother-in-law: James Dennis of Sheridan, WY; sisters-in-law: Teresa (Norman) Allen and Sarah (Dennis) Popp; grandchildren: Traci, Mercedes, Tichina (Tyler), Kristian (Andrew), Jessica (Klair), Shyanne (Ransom), Roper, Ryder, Lynette (Kyle), Charlotte, Lane, Stormi, Stetson, Michael, Samantha, Frank, Matthew, Carl, Theola, Teesha, Jody, Weston, Braxton, Marri, John Jr., Tyona, Jaecelle, Hayzlei, Dahlet, Ridge, Creighton, and Riggin; great grandchildren: Lillian, Emma, Lettie, Quentin, Chris, Dayson, Cairo, Jordy, Aryella, Lilly, Lilla, Dreyson, Monte, Tucker, John, Sonny, Theodore, Psalms, Jayse, Thomas, Sebastian, Raymond, Felisheana, Ka'Myra, Miranda, Elena, Juliana, and Jackson.
