Mary C. DeSimone

Mary C. DeSimone, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, boundless love, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony E. DeSimone, Esq., with whom she built a beautiful life grounded in deep values, lasting love, and an unbreakable commitment to family.

She is survived by her five devoted children: Anthony E. DeSimone, Jr. (Lynn), Thomas R. DeSimone Esq. (Vivianne), Mary C. Lombardo (Gary), John J. DeSimone, Esq. (Diane), and Gail DeSimone-Tella (Robert Tella) who carry forward her love, spirit, and legacy.

When Mary was widowed at the age of 53, she faced her greatest loss with remarkable courage. Though heartbroken, she carried on with dignity and fierce determination—devoting her days to raising and supporting her children and embracing every role that family life asked of her. From daily routines to life’s biggest moments, Mary was fully present, steadfast, and nurturing.

She didn’t just love her children—she raised them with conviction. She showed them how to live with purpose, grace, and strength. Her values weren’t just taught; they were demonstrated in how she lived each day—with humility, deep integrity, and boundless loyalty to those she loved.

Mary’s grandchildren—AJ, William, Joseph, Ashlee, Andrea, Amy, Amanda, Anthony, John Jr. Esq. and Robert—were the center of her universe. She cared for them constantly, often watching all of them at once with energy, patience, and joy. Her love extended to her nine great-grandchildren and to many nieces and nephews, each of whom she cherished deeply.

She embraced her three daughters-in-law and her son-in-law with love and treated them as her own, welcoming them fully into the heart of her family.

Her kitchens—both in Providence and in Narragansett—were gathering places filled with warmth, conversation, and unforgettable meals. Friends and family often stopped by unannounced, knowing they’d be met with kindness and maybe a meatball sandwich or a perfect plate of pasta. Hospitality wasn’t something Mary did—it was who she was.

One of the most cherished memories of Mary is of her sitting in her backyard in Narragansett, beneath the big shady tree, sipping her coffee and waiting for her children and grandchildren to return from the beach. The moment she saw them walking across the yard, she would rise—ready with snacks, a towel, a listening ear, or simply the comforting embrace of home.

Mary’s life was defined by love, family, and the generations she held together with quiet strength. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

She was, and always will be, the heart of her family.

She was the cherished daughter of the late Antonio and Rose Capoverdi. Mary was the loving sister of the late Nancy Parrillo, Pasco Capoverdi, Josephine Proia, Anthony Capoverdi, and James Capoverdi. She remained deeply connected to her siblings throughout their lives and carried their memory in her heart always.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 8:45 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith Street, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
