OTWAY-Mary Margaret Dettwiller, 86, of Otway, Ohio passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was born July 28, 1936 in McDermott, Ohio to the late Paul and Robena McGill Simon. On September 1, 1956 she was united in marriage to Charles B. Dettwiller who preceded her in death on March 4, 2019. Surviving are her children, Sherry (Doug) Miller-May of Lexington, Ohio and their children, Joshua (Paige) Miller and Jeremy Miller; Christine (Hank) Uhl of Lucasville, Ohio and their children, Robert Scott (Mandy) Uhl of Otway, Charles "Joey" (Elaine) Uhl of Englewood, Ohio and Lynnsay (Scott) Struckel of Piketon, Ohio; and Chuck (Jamie) Dettwiller of Otway, Ohio and their children, Katie, Claire and Annie Dettwiller; great grandchildren, Camden Uhl, Moriah Uhl, Aiden Uhl, Amira Uhl, Avery Uhl, Samuel Struckel, Hope Struckel, Ruth Struckel, Ryleigh Miller, J.J. Miller and Reagan Miller; and siblings, Eileen (Larry) Thieken of Portsmouth, Tim (Becky) Simon of Lucasville, Carol Smith of McDermott and Barb (Roger) Hemming of Franklin Furnace. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Sadie Grace Struckel; and siblings, Anthony Simon, Helen Thompson, Paulette Galloway and Libby McGraw.
Mary was a proud graduate of the Class of 1953 of Notre Dame High School in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Pond Creek in West Portsmouth, Ohio with Father John Stattmiller officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway.
