Dodge City -- Mary Ann Deutschendorf, 68, went to be with the Lord on Friday August 15, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born December 2, 1956 in Cordell, Oklahoma, the daughter of Max Deutschendorf and Mary Arlene Franklin Anderson.
Mary Ann spent her childhood traveling across the US with her father, supporting him and his crew in custom cutting as well as enjoying life in the family restaurant. Mary Ann attended Montezuma High School and graduated in 1975. Following high school, Mary Ann worked at a variety of jobs but the one she enjoyed the most was working as a bookkeeper. Mary Ann loved to play mud volleyball as a young adult and found her passion in artistic hobbies like painting and macramé. She was also a collector of many things, such as salt and pepper shakers, which she cherished.
Mary Ann's greatest love was her family and friends. If you knew Mary Ann, you knew that her proudest accomplishments throughout her life centered on being the most amazing parent to her children, grandparent to her grandchildren, and honorary parent/grandparent to many more children in her family and her community.
Those that knew her, knew that she was truly one of a kind. Her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by how special Mary Ann was. She had incredible patience, and always made time to help others. She would want everyone to remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mary Ann is survived by: son, Michael Young of Red Oak Texas, grandchildren Preston and Abby; daughter, Jessica Sanchez of Red Oak Texas, grandchildren Jr. , Joseph , Nathaniel, and Cassandra; daughter Melissa Perkins of Kinsley Kansas, grandsons Gavin and Aidin; daughter Heather Hixon (Rashawn) of Montezuma Kansas, grandchildren Kaedynce "Kaedy", Melia, and Journee Hixon and Cassidy; four bonus daughters, Tammy, Crystal, Tonya, and Tabitha and their families; siblings Gary and Deborah Deutschendorf, Teresa Deutschendorf, Maxine Deutschendorf, Edward "Ed" and Bucky Lombard, Glen and Jennifer Anderson, Dale Anderson, and Jeff and Melody Deutschendorf; step-mother, Shirley Deutschendorf; and many beloved nieces and nephews, and countless "honorary" children and grandchildren.
When Mary Ann made her journey through Heaven's gates, she was greeted by her parents Max and Mary Arlene, step father Bruce Anderson and many other cherished loved ones who preceded her. Her legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we control our attitudes. We choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service like Christ modeled for us.

"I hear her voice in the mornin' hour, she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
Drivin' down the road, I get a feelin'
That I should've been home yesterday yesterday"
