Mary Susan DiMaggio

Mary Susan DiMaggio, age 81, of McHenry passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family and caring nurses. Mary was born on November 3, 1939 in Chicago, the daughter of David and Kathleen O'Connell. Mary preferred being called Susan because of her favorite song "Runaround Sue" by Dion DiMucci. She was a fantastic real estate agent for 20 plus years and loved seeing families in new homes. She was an avid bargain shopper and coupon enthusiast, her favorite pastime was to get a great outfit for a steal. She was a phenomenal cook with a sweet tooth, who loved to feed her grandchildren. She loved to spend time creating stories. The family would like to thank Transitions Hospice Nurses, and her care nurse Erin for being with us at the end. Mary is survived by her daughter: Teresa (David) Zigante; her grandchildren: Bridget, Tanner, Riley, Griffin and Ireland, as well as her sister Josephine Urbanski. She was preceded in death by her parents; David and Kathleen O'Connell and her brothers: Robert and Joseph O'Connell. Private family visitation and service will take place on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home in McHenry, IL.
