Mary Elizabeth Harrison Dulweber, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend peacefully passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 99.
Mary Elizabeth was born May 12, 1926, in
Memphis, TN, to parents William Lee and Mary Bailey Harrison. She graduated from Memphis's Central High School in 1944. She worked for Southern Paper Co. for 10 years.
On June 12, 1954, she married her sweetheart, Edward William "Bill" Dulweber. The couple left Memphis in 1960 to start a new life in
Longview, TX, where Bill began his career with Eastman Chemical Company.
As a wife and mother, Mary Elizabeth was the heart of the family raising five children with love and devotion. Besides keeping the household running, she volunteered with Camp Fire, Cub Scouts, and St. Mary's School. Mary was also a creative lady who loved to draw and paint in her free time and enjoyed doing needlework. Mary later expressed her creative nature through her collection of bonsai trees and cherished the friendships with her fellow members of the Longview Bonsai Society.
Mary Elizabeth was a faithful member of St. Mary's Church where she was an active member and volunteer including many years working with the Bereavement Committee, the Adoration Chapel, and the Our Lady's Guild enchilada roll fundraiser where she was their oldest volunteer. Grandchildren were the pride and joy of Mary Elizabeth's life, and she took pleasure in keeping up with all aspects of their lives.
Mary Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, her daughter, Margie Dulweber Garland, and her brother, William Harrison.
She is survived by her children, Susan and son-in-law David McWhorter of
Longview, TX; Mark and daughter-in-law Susie of
Longview, TX; Vincent and daughter-in-law Karen of
Longview, TX; John and daughter-in-law Angie of Charlotte, NC; her beloved grandchildren Chris Garland and wife Rachelle; Casey Garland and wife Lisa; Chase Garland and wife Brittany; William McWhorter and wife Olivia; Ashley Chumley and husband Phillip; Allison Dillard and husband Will; Christina Morris and husband Steven; Katherine Lehr and husband Mike; Lauren Dulweber; Ellen Wendel and husband Peter; Erin Cogdill and husband Clayton; and many great-grandchildren.
Services will be held January 17, 2026, at St. Mary's Church in
Longview, TX. A rosary will begin at 10:00 am, followed by visitation at 10:30 am, and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Under direction of Rader Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rosewood Park.
Mary Elizabeth's family would like to express special appreciation to her sitters, Rosa Gomez and Melody Ebanks, for their devoted and loving service. Their gratitude also extends to Visiting Angels and HeartsWay Hospice for their compassionate expertise in end-of-life care.
