BRISTOL

Mary T. (Hennessey) Dutcher, 91, of Bristol, widow of William E. Dutcher, Sr., died on Wednesday (January 28, 2026) at KindCare Assisted Living. Mary was born on August 25, 1934, in Yonkers, NY and was a daughter of the late Stephen P. and Mary (Sullivan) Hennessey. She was raised and graduated from local schools in Yonkers, NY. After high school, she attended Caldwell College in New Jersey where she earned her bachelor's degree in English. After she and William were married in 1957, they moved to Bristol where they started their family. Mary taught English as a Second Language for the Bristol Adult education program for many years and from where she retired. She was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church where she sang in the church choir for over 50 years. She was also heavily involved in the Bristol Jr. Women's Club, Republican Town Committee, Bristol Choral Society, and the Relay for Life. With her husband Bill, Mary enjoyed over 60 years of marriage and many trips travelling abroad and within the U.S. Their annual trip to Aruba was something they treasured. Mary loved reading, crossword puzzles and a good glass of wine or Grand Marnier. Mary is survived by three children: Kathleen Winter of Rindge, NH, Peg Giordano of Oak Park, IL and William Dutcher, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Conway, SC; seven grandchildren: Samuel Winter and his wife, Sara, Matthew Giordano, David Khan-Giordano and his wife, Nabiha, Zachary Dutcher, Thomas Dutcher, Benjamin Winter and his wife, Jenny, and Elizabeth Winter; eight great-grandchildren: Nora Winter, Dominic and Vivian Massaro, Bisma, Amaal and Minna Khan-Giordano, and Elin and Emilie Winter; numerous nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends. She was predeceased by seven siblings: John Hennessey, Edward Redican, Bernice Hennessey, Geraldine King, Joan Courchaine; Patricia Quinn and Stephen Hennessey; and two sons-in-law: Mark Winter and Jay Giordano. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at KindCare and Brighton Hospice for providing such good care to our mom. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (February 6, 2026) at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
