Mary Eatherton Obituary

Funeral Services for Mary Ann Eatherton of Conroe, Texas will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors with Pastor Charles Wolfe officiating.

Mary Ann, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with our Heavenly Father on May 15, 2025 at the age of 81. She was born on January 4, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri to Howard W. and Antoinette (Toni) Flagg and was one of fourteen children. Family was very important to her.

She married James Edwin Eatherton and in 1976 they moved their family to Conroe, Texas. Since grandparents, aunts and uncles were not close Mary Ann felt the need to do for everyone so her children wouldn't do without. Her husband Jimmy was a truck driver, and if he made it home by 3-4 in the morning that is when Mary Ann woke everyone up to have cake and celebrate birthdays or their anniversary. Mary Ann, Scott and Teresa would talk on the phone every night at supper time to catch up on life and they did this for years even up to her passing. Jodie always said, "She had the best parents and everyone else got the leftovers!" Mary Ann would then say, "She paid her to say that!" She was known for her dedication and hard work with anything she put her mind to. Jimmy passed away at the age of 46 and Mary Ann raised the kids on her own. She not only worked up until a month before she passed, but she was known to have had 2, 3 or even 4 jobs at a time.

Mary Ann always showed such great strength. Her grandkids called her "Ninja Grandma." She was a fierce protector as well, one time she ran-off girls trying to cut in line in front of her grandkids at the Catfish Festival. Her strength did not stop there. Mary Ann could run circles around most of us even when fighting a 2-year battle with Stage 4 cancer. She was loved by many, showed kindness to all and could put a "silver lining" on anything, our Mary Ann will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwin Eatherton and dear friend, Earl Michael Crowe as well as five sisters, three brothers, a niece and several nephews.

Survived by her loving family; Children, Scott and Teresa Eatherton and Jodie Herrod; grandchildren, Dustin and Haley Parker, Taylor and David Gentry, Rebecca Legg and Jeremy Smith, Gerrod and Kayla Herrod, Casey and Tyler Wheeler, Cadey Eatherton and Nicholas Ochoa and Jimmy Eatherton; great grandchildren, Grayson, Colton, Piper, Waverly, Waylon, Braeden, Payslei, Maddie, Maverick, Kate and Cooper Dean; sisters, Kay Shelton, Frannie Eagan and Theresa Bunch; brothers, Raymond Flagg and Jimmy Flagg as well as many other family members and a host of treasured friends.
