Mary Eder Obituary

Mary Jane Eder
November 30, 1930 - August 18, 2025
Mary Jane Eder (1930-2025) was born to Reverend and Mrs. Enno Schuelke on November 30. She died on August 18th. She is survived by three children, three grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Mary Jane dedicated her life to helping. She left college in 1948 to become a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. She married Alan Eder in January of 1962. After work and residence in San Francisco, Hampton and Henderson, Nebraska and Fredonia, NY, they moved to Flagstaff in 1972. They had a wonderful marriage, and were completely committed to each other and to their family.
They helped more than fifty foster children. Mary Jane taught for some time in Tuba City, AZ before she was hired to teach Special Education classes at Christensen School in Flagstaff. She was known for her classroom management abilities, and managed to control her classes while still projecting an atmosphere of care and love.
She cared for Alan after her retirement in 1996 until his passing in 2009.
The last years of her life were spent in a very caring assisted living home in Surprise, AZ.
She was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Mary Jane's life will be held on Friday, September 19th, at 10:30 a.m. at Lozano's Flagstaff Mortuary in Flagstaff.
