Mary Susan Edwards

 

Mary “Susan” Edwards (Sue) almost made it three quarters of a century. Best known for being a “firecracker” or being full of spunk. She told you exactly what she thought, whether you wanted to hear it or not! She will be remembered by many for volunteering for the JC’s, driving a really loud Chevy Nova, and threatening to pour salt on strawberries received by many a Windsor softball player she coached in the 80’s. Or, perhaps, how the year they won the state championship, she had to be dragged to the hospital so she didn’t give birth to her surviving son Tim Fetters there on the field. She was a tough woman who loved people and animals around her fiercely. She loved Tim and her surviving daughter Jacklyn Jackson and her grand babies Amanda Leber and Matthew Leber as well as a plethora of people she opened her door to. She didn’t care how broken we all were. She loved us all regardless. Once you were loved by her; you were family and this included many: Sandy Ponto-Roby, Bonnie Joe Fetters-Brown, Amy Pacheco, Eric Smith, Wendy Konieczney, Michealle Rozhkova, Mara Pappas and Rustie Cullison. 

 

Before moving to Windsor, Colorado in the seventies, she lived in El Sobrante, California where she grew up with her loving family: Her Mom Mary Daves (deceased), older brother Neil Mulkey (deceased), younger brother Marvin Daves, younger sister Jackie Daves (deceased), sister in law Alice Mulkey, as well as her nieces Kelly Gooding, Colleen Guenza and Jamie Mulkey. This is also where she met her lifelong friends Linda Massone and Maureen Medellin who were able to laugh and cry with her on Saturday, January 21st, the day of her passing. She was excited to have the upcoming opportunity to discuss a few of her thoughts with God and her other “bestie” Brenda Smith (deceased).

 

Everyone who remembers her is asked to celebrate Sue’s life in their own way. Raise a glass, tell a joke, share a memory, adopt a pet or person….. Instead of flowers, or tears, please do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for some poor unfortunate soul in her name.
