Mary "Betsy" Emmes

Mary "Betsy" Emmes, age 73, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, passed away on December 10, 2025, at Edenbrook Nursing Home with her family by her side.
A memorial service will be held Thursday December 18, 2025, at 12:00pm at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, and at church on Thursday morning from 10:30am until the time of service.
Betsy was born on August 15, 1952, to Fabian and Sylvia (Peters) Krekowski in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Betsy spent many years working at Consolidated Paper in the purchasing department. After retirement, she continued to work to stay busy. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and rarely missed their sports games or dance recitals. She also enjoyed the company of their dog, Bella, and cherished the trips she took with her close group of friends- the GGW group.
As much as Betsy loved being out and about, she more so appreciated her quiet time in the sanctuary of her own home, where she loved to spend time watching old movies like Gunsmoke.
Betsy was a loving, caring, and generous person who always put others before herself. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her daily. She was also an exceptional cook and baker, and she took great joy in sharing her treats with the people she loved.
Betsy is survived by her daughter, Kara Volz; grandchildren, Lauren Volz and Lilly Volz; siblings, Jack (Karen) Krekowski, Marilyn (Maynard) Witt, and Fred Krekowski; sister-in-law, Jan Krekowski, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Krekoswki; and sister-in-law, Joanne Krekowski.
The family has been grateful for everyone's generosity during this difficult time. The family asks that no flowers be sent. Any funds received will be donated to a charity determined in the near future.
