Mary Ellen Engelage, age 93, of Lamar, Missouri passed away February 8, 2023, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Mary was born May 9,1929 in Barton County, Missouri to John Widmer and Rosa (Frieden) Widmer. On January 26, 1956, Mary married Clarence Monroe Engelage in Lamar, MO.
Mary was a housewife. She went to work for Dr. Bickle as an LPN after high school, she also worked at Medlin-Frieden Furniture Store. Mary loved to knit and had previously owned an arts and crafts store on the square called Engelage Yarn and Crafts. After closing her business, she went to work for Dot's Hallmark. Mary was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Lamar, MO.
Survivors include two sons, Danny (Milia) Engelage of Lockwood and David Engelage of Lamar; one daughter, Dixie (Jerry) Klusener of Carthage; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clarence; and two brothers, Walter Widmer and Edward Widmer.
A private family service and burial will be held.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to the Barton County Senior Citizens Center in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
