Mary, was my dear friend having met at the St. Petersburg Times and our friendship went beyond the work environment. She saved me several times at the newspaper and would correct me calling me Linder and I called her Merry.
I would say to her "be merry Merry" and we would always be there just in case. I was staying with her a few days and had eaten lots of garlic because I had a bad cold. She was not happy that her nice place smelled like garlic so she sent me immediately to the sauna at the Vinoy and told me not to come back until I smelled better. So many memories like this I shall never forget.
She was with me through many years of life and I miss her terribly. I walk everyday here in the mountains of North Carolina and I always called her just to say Be Merry, Merry and I LOVE YOU! Merry has been with me in Ireland and western North Carolina. I Shall miss her always. Thanks to all those dear ones who took care of her this last year. I am sorry to have been so far away but she made it clear that she did not want me. So I understand actually.

Mary, my family and I will miss you so much! You were the epitome of kindness, love and why you were the BEST Godmother to me (and my family). You have been an integral part of our family unit. We have so many special memories that I will hold close in my heart. Your devotion to our Catholic faith has been instrumental. Your love of animals has been a constant that I have always admired. You were well versed in so many areas. We always enjoyed hearing about your aviation adventures and knowledge in the field and receiving your fascinating newsletters. Always loved catching up on life. Our visits to see you were fun with our walks around St Pete catching all the festive sights! Our hearts are sad, but your memory will always live on with all the special moments we will cherish. Fly high my dear angel with all our special loved ones above!

Mary was gifted in so many ways: as a pilot, as a writer, as an artist. Years ago when faux painting was in vogue, she painted the plaster pillars in my living room to approximate marble. I will miss her.

I knew Mary through her many years of involvement with the St Petersburg Woman´s Club. She quietly did so much for our Club and our community. Mary was respected and admired by anyone she touched. Mary will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
