Mary Flowers Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bumpers Funeral Home - Butler on Dec. 4, 2025.
Mary Lee Flowers, 90, of Butler passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Arabella Health and Wellness Center, with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. Born in Butler on January 6, 1935, to James Franklin Crosby and Clara Viola Carter Crosby, she spent her entire life in Choctaw County, Alabama, embracing her roots as a true country girl. Her favorite pastime involved traveling the roads, visiting friends, and checking in on others. Mary had a passion for sewing and quilting, and she loved people unconditionally, embodying a heart of gold. Her greatest blessing was her family, leaving behind a profound legacy within all of them. She taught them how to fish and cook, always available at any hour, day or night, no matter the circumstances. Known for her strong will and determination, she always did things her own way with a smile on her face. As a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Randy Flowers; son, William Flowers and wife Marilyn; daughter, Shirley Strickland and husband James; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Riley Flowers; father, James Franklin Crosby; mother, Clara Viola Carter Crosby; daughter, Mary Sue Loftis; and her siblings.

A private family graveside will be held at a later date.
