Virginia was born on September 23, 1956, in Shelbyville, TN to the late William Lawwell and Hazel Crowell Kubinski. A lifelong resident of Bedford County, she dedicated her career to nursing, serving the community with compassion and care for many years.
Virginia had a generous heart and a joyful spirit. She loved shopping, music, caring for others, giving thoughtful gifts, and spending time with her family and friends. A woman of faith, she was a member of Blankenship Community Church and formerly served as pianist at Northfork Baptist Church. She served as a registered nurse with Vanderbilt Heart for 28 years.
Virginia is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Tyson Freeman; children: Jill (Rob) McKamey, Lauren (Mason) Byrd, and Wendy Martin; grandchildren: Madison and Macey McKamey, Marcus and Tori Martin; siblings. She also leaves behind her brother, Tommy (Peggy) Lawwell and step-father, Doug Kubinski along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jaden McKamey.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home, with Butch Sobiek officiating. Burial will follow at Cothran Cemetery in Rockvale.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, one hour prior to the service staring at 12 noon.
