Mary Colleen Frieder, age 84, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 with her husband by her side.
Mary was born on March 4, 1940 in Manitowoc to the late Gerald and Sadie (Grady) Jansen. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1958. Mary furthered her education at St. Agnes School of Nursing where she graduated with her Registered Nursing Degree. On August 21, 1965, Mary married Thomas M. Frieder at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She was a longtime mental health nurse at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Mary was a member of the Manitowoc–Two Rivers YMCA, and a founding member of the Manitowoc Chapter of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, and was very proud of both their academic and athletic accomplishments.
Survivors include Mary's husband of 58 years, Tom; two children, Mike (Sheila) Frieder, Green Bay; and Sarah Nordloh, Waunakee; five grandchildren, Ryan and Brett Frieder, Ben, Katie Grace, and Andy Nordloh; brother-in-law, Dr. William Maples; also other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Sadie Jansen; two brothers, Dr. G. Thomas Jansen and Jack Jansen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Romy and Luella Frieder; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen Maples, and Bill and Judy Frieder.
Memorial services will be held at Noon on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Matthew Colle with entombment of Mary's cremated remains to be held at Calvary Mausoleum at a later date. A luncheon for family and friends will then be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Noon. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in Mary's name.
Mary's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to all of the staff at Felician Village for the care, compassion, and friendship they provided.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

My sincere condolences to Tom and the family. Frieders lived next to my in-laws for many years, and remained close friends after they moved away. I remember Mary as a kind woman. She'll be missed by all who knew & loved her.
