Mary Edith Gandee,89, of Ripley, WV went home to be with her Lord on October 10, 2025, while surrounded by her loved ones. Mary was born on May 2, 1936, a daughter of the late Rex and Esta Patterson.
She is survived by sons, Steve Gandee (Lisa) and Brian “Pete” Gandee (Shelly); daughter, Sharon Gandee; grandchildren, Ashley Snook (John), Heather Gandee, Andrea Covert (Jerrod), Tyler Gandee, Jamie Turner (Marland), Dylon Gandee, and Brady Gandee; great-grandchildren, Morgan Bayes (Carlos), Blaze Perry, Emily Lewis, Haley Gillespie, Connor Gillispie, Josiah Turner, Mason Lewis, Wyatt Gandee, Bonnie Gandee, Laney Lewis, Jonah Covert, Jayla Turner, Jude Turner, and Shelby Snook; great-great-grandchildren, Colson Bayes, Asher Bayes, and Adley Bayes; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 30 years (est. June 25, 1955), Foster “Cody” Gandee Jr.; brothers, Donald, Ralph, and Everette; sisters, Rotha, Della Mae, Bertha, and Audine; and an infant son.
In Mary’s spare time she enjoyed crafting, taking pictures, traveling, spending time with her family, and shopping. She especially loved jewelry, spending a day at the beauty shop, and being a longtime member of the Ripley Church of the Nazarene. She will be remembered for her sassy personality and keeping the family in line.
The Gandee family also wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Jackson County Commission on Aging, and to Lori Casto and the Kanawha County Hospice Team for their kindness and care shown during Mary’s final days.
There will be a funeral service held at Waybright Funeral Home on Wednesday October 15, 2025, at 3p.m. with visitation held from 2p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
