Obituary of Mary M. Gleichauf

Mary Margarget Gleichauf, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and cherished friend, passed away December 20, 2025, at the age of 78.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Jeanette Zuber, her beloved sister Joyce Page and brother-in-law Doug Van Norman. She is survived by her children Janet (Scott) Way, Honeoye Falls, NY and Frank (Jodi) Gleichauf, Naples, NY. Her grandchildren, who were the smile in her heart, Jeffrey Hookstra, Brian Hookstra, Landon Gleichauf and Laila Gleichauf. Her siblings who have all been there for her throughout the years Ann (Mark) Czebatol, Richard (Jacqui') Zuber, Michael (Audrey) Zuber, Carol Van Norman and Martin (Gary) Zuber. Many nieces and nephews along with several cousins.

She is also survived by her dearest friends Connie Frederick and Sandy Waldeis.

Mary was born on September 23, 1947, in Whitehall NY. She worked for many years before retiring from the University of Rochester.

Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She rarely missed a game, competition, play or dance program any of them were in. Even when she couldn't be there, she watched them on her computer.

Mary was a long-time member of the Honeoye Falls Fire Department Auxiliary. She would often be found in the kitchen cooking during large emergencies and other activities the fire department would hold.

A celebration of life will be held January 10th, 3pm – 6pm at Wren's Roost Barn in Naples, NY. Family, friends and loved ones are invited to come share memories, celebrate Mary's life and honor her memory.
