Mary R. Gobin, 82, a longtime resident of Attleboro, passed on Friday, February 17, 2012 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital. Born Mary Castro in Attleboro on February 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Manuel O. and Alice M. (Brousseau) Castro-Holbrook. Mary was educated in Attleboro schools and was a graduate of Attleboro High School, Class of 1948. Mary worked as an administrative assistant at the former Bristol Nursing Home in Attleboro for twenty three years, retiring in 1994. In earlier days she performed clerical and receptionist duties at D.E. Makepeace Company in Attleboro and worked as a receptionist and in the admitting department of Sturdy Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Attleboro YMCA and enjoyed knitting, swimming, and gardening. Mary is survived by her special friends; Beverly Gobin of Rehoboth, Nancy Araujo of Attleboro, Bob and Eileen Demers of Attleboro, Gene and Helen Goulet of Attleboro, Claire Bastering of Pawtucket, and John and Nancy Lee Ruest of Connecticut. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro where the Gobin family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 21st from 5 PM – 8 PM. A funeral will be conducted on Wednesday, January 22nd at 9:30 AM from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk, celebrated by Rev. Thomas Rita, Pastor. Mary will be laid to rest in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers and for those wishing to remember Mary in a special way, memorial contributions in her memory may be made to: American Cancer Society, Central New England Region, 5 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379 or American Diabetes Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
