Mary Louise Graham, age 88 of Wirtz, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023. She was born December 29, 1934 to the late Thomas and Emma Housman.
She was very active as a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, overcoming multiple physical obstacles which would have stopped many.
She loved super abundantly each and every one of her family members and friends with trembling but strong arms.
She had an unusually strong love and bond with her 8 siblings. They grew up under the great depression, World War II as well as many other sad situations which only served to draw them even closer. Many families should envy the unusual love and bond these 9 siblings have maintained over all theses years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Wiley Graham; daughters Teresa Hambrick and Rita Thomas; siblings Lewis and Donald Housman, Julia Mae Gusler, Doris Wright, John and Donald Boitnott. Surviving are her daughter Trina Graham; stepsons Clark Settles (Sharon), James Graham (Marilyn); grandchildren Heather Chattin, Eric Chattin (Amanda), Charlie Stephens, Tonia Divers (Steven), Tanya Short (Kenny), Kelsey Hambrick, Carl Lee Hambrick, James Wiley Hambrick (Mandy), Crystal McCulley, Jamie Sherr (Tarah), Terry Thomas; many great-grandchildren; her brother Roy Housman (Ruth); sisters Virginia Wills, Nancy O'brien (Billy).
Family would like to extend extra special thanks to friends Michelle Gusler, Melissa Simmons, Rhonda Duncan, Margo Hand, Jackie Mahler, Sarah Nelson , Sue Twiddy and Susie Gilmer who were regular caretakers for the past years.
The family would also like to extend special thanks to Carilion Hospice for the extra tender care they provided at the end to Mary Graham and her daughter as well as appreciation to the Carilion family in general for being understanding for the many times her daughter needed to be absent fior the care of her mother in the past years.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday from Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5969 Booker T, Washington HWY, Wirtz, VA 24184. Her family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 62 Virginia Market Place Dr., Rocky Mount, VA 24151
