Mary Janice Graves

Mary Janice Graves, 87, went home to be with the Lord on April 1st, 2025. She was born in Charleston, SC on November 20, 1938. Janice was the only child of Emma and Lloyd Benton.
Janice was the widow of John Tamplet Graves, Jr. and they were married for close to 60 years before his death in 2017. She is survived by her children Michael Graves (Valerie), Terri Graves and Tamplet Graves (Barbara) along with 9 Grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Janice, who was fondly known as "Nanny", was married to John in 1958 and moved from Charleston to Okatie in 1969. She and John would go on to own and run several businesses in the area. She was very active in many mission-based ministries over her 50+ years in the church along with being a Sunday school teacher.
She loved to feed people and was always in the kitchen cooking for anyone that stopped by. No one ever left her house hungry. She adored her grandchildren and was always so happy to see them. Her love will carry on.
