Mary Ann Greer

1947 - 2025

Following a sudden illness and short hospital stay in Baptist Memorial Intensive Care Unit in Memphis, TN a true earthly angel gained her heavenly wings. Just after midnight on Saturday, December 20, 2025 Mary Ann McDonald Greer was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A lifelong resident of Union County, Mrs. Mary Ann was born on January 31, 1947 to Ruth Annis Mayo McDonald and Woodrow McDonald. She graduated from Ingomar High School in 1964. Then in 1966, she met her soulmate, Lee Earl Greer. The couple was so determined to get married that even one of the worst snowstorms ever recorded in Mississippi history could not keep them from saying "I do". On March 22, 1968, while snow continued to fall accumulating up to 22 inches in some areas, Mary Ann and Lee Earl could not drive all the way to the church. They managed to get to Rev. Ben Rodgers' house and were married in his living room. This past March, they celebrated their 57th anniversary, and until December 20, 2025, they had only spent three days apart over the span of those 57 years.

Mrs. Mary Ann Greer exemplified 1 Corinthians 13:4 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud." (NIV) The foundation of her very existence was in service to others and her light would shine brighter with the happiness, warmth, and relief she saw in the faces of patients during her almost 50 years in the medical field. Thirty of those years were spent at Creekmore Clinic. Patients adored and respected her; she was Union County's Best Nurse three separate occasions; however, she did not serve others because of recognition or awards; she served others because it was her calling. During her healthcare career, she earned several medical, lab and radiological certifications. Outside of her medical career, she was a Christian wife and mother of two children. She enjoyed reading her Bible, praying, and hearing the Gospel from preachers like the late Billy Graham and the late Adrian Rogers. Mrs. Mary Ann is a long-standing member of Academy Baptist Church in Blue Mountain, MS.

Her favorite hobbies included spending time with her family, watching hummingbirds visit her feeders in front of the windows, gardening, cooking, and baking. Many of her recipes have been published in cookbooks, church booklets, and newspapers. Most recently, several of her recipes were up in the Daily Journal. Her most memorable vacation destination was the Smokey Mountains. She was always in awe of God's imagination and just how perfect and beautiful His creations are.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her father, Woodrow McDonald; her mother, Ruth Annis Mayo McDonald; two brothers, Curtis McDonald and David (Payday) McDonald; and one grandchild, Jonah Condon.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lee Earl Greer; two children a son, Michael Greer (Laura), a daughter, Amy Greer; one brother, Billy Ray McDonald (Cecelia); six grandchildren, Kayla Bristol, Brooke Condon, Alyssah (AC) Condon, Sasi Greer, MaKennah Greer, and Micah Greer; three great-grandchildren, Jensen Watkins, Blaise Bristol, and Liam Bristol.

Services to honor her life will be on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 2:00pm. at United Funeral Service. Burial at Martin Cemetery
