Mary Greiner Obituary
Mary Isabelle "Marybell" Greiner, 105 years old of Zanesville died peacefully in her sleep Thursday morning, February 19, 2026, at her home following an extended illness.
She was born on April 17, 1920, in Zanesville, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph Allen Freeman and Margaret Edna Speer Freeman.
Marybell married Kenneth "KR" Greiner on April 9, 1955, in Richmond, Indiana. She and KR were members of the Scioto Model A Club and The Antique Steam and Gas Club. They traveled the country winning awards for their restored antique cars. They were especially known for their Model A Roadster and Mary's personal favorite, a 1965 gold Mustang convertible. Participating in the Zane's Trace Commemoration Parades for several years was a thrill for them. They were often asked to escort local royalty in the parades. They traveled the world, visiting all seven Wonders and many places that most people only dream of seeing.
Surviving are nephews, Steve Layman of Zanesville, John Layman of Wyoming, Gregg (Elizabeth) Taylor, Larry Taylor both of Zanesville, Rex Taylor and nieces Sylvia Arcomone and Becky Prouty of Florida. She is also missed and loved by several great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and even several great-great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "KR" Greiner; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Aletha (Charles) Taylor, Jean (Ray) Prouty and Helen (Arndt) Layman, and her brother Bill who was killed in action in WWII; her nephews Jay Layman, Jeff Taylor, Jim Prouty and niece Ruby Jean Prouty; and her step-father, George McCaughey.
Visitation to be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with funeral service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with John Castle officiating. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
