Mary Jo Griesinger, 88, formerly of Niles, Michigan passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025 surrounded by her family in New Carlisle, Indiana. She was born on January 25, 1937 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late John Manhart and Marie (Hurst) Leahy. On January 7, 1956 she married Ronald Leo Griesinger who preceded her in death on September 17, 2022.
Mary Jo was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jean Marie Griesinger, one still born daughter, Theresa Griesinger, one son-in-law, Rick Dyer, four siblings, Bob Manhart, Tom Leahy, Anne Czarneckie, Kate Leahy and one sister-in-law, Janet Ivacic who preceded her in death on the same day. She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Dyer of New Carlisle, Indiana, two sons, Ron (Cheri) Griesinger of St. Joseph, Michigan and John (Cathy) Griesinger of Niles, Michigan, nine grandchildren; Michael (Stephanie) Griesinger, Karen (Jason) Keesler, Tom Griesinger, Nicholas (Amber) Perkins, Amy (Brandon) Krisher, Lisa (Alan) Nichols, Mikayla (Adam) Golden, Justin (Lauren) Dyer, Matthew (Sarai) Griesinger and Ryan Griesinger, eighteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Anna Mary Crum of LaPorte, Indiana, one brother, Jim (Ina Rae) Manhart of Valparaiso, Indiana, one step sister, Pat Boyer of Mishawaka, Indiana, four sisters-in-law, Carol Griesinger of Mishawaka, Indiana, Jeanne (Len) Merrick of Carmel Indiana, Judy (Clem) Krugh of South Bend, Indiana, Marilyn Leahy of Union Mills, Indiana, lifelong friends, Bill and Donna Rhoads and the Crum family.
Mary Jo was an executive secretary at AM General for twenty-five years. Her hobbies and interests included time with family and friends, bowling, mahjong, cards, and trivia games. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 11:00 am EST until 1:00 pm EST at the New Carlisle Wesleyan Church, 32645 Early Rd, New Carlisle, IN. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm EST in the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Jo's honor to The New Carlisle Wesleyan Church or Dune's Hospice.
