Mary “Louise” Griffey, 86, of New Castle and formerly of Elkhart, Indiana passed away Monday, May 20, 2024 at The Waters of New Castle. She was born May 26, 1937 in Belknap, Illinois to the late Raymond and Hazel (Heal) Flannigan.

Louise attended Vienna High School in Vienna, Illinois. She moved to Elkhart, Indiana and resided there most of her life. For many years, she and her husband, Elmer, managed Big Tree RV Resort in Acadia, Florida. While there, she enjoyed writing and directing plays, and swing dancing with Elmer. Together, they also enjoyed traveling, visiting many places. She was an avid collector of lighthouses. Louise had a strong faith and was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

She is survived by her children, Gregory “Todd” (Jane) Griffey, Donnie Randall (Pat) Griffey and Clifford Kendall Griffey; grandchildren, Melissa, Megan, Gavriella Grace, Cole and Nathan; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Linda Wood; special nieces, Lisa (Brian) Riley and Robin (Sol) Miller and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; grandsons, Nick and Adam; siblings, Jack, Donald, Ronnie Flannigan and Carolyn Riley.

At Louise’s request, there will be no public services held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation or American Cancer Society. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. You may express condolences or share a memory of Louise at www.hinsey-brown.com.
