Mary "Maureen" Griffin

Mary "Maureen" Griffin, 89, wife of the late James "Jim" Griffin, passed into the arms of our Lord, on Saturday, July 23, 2022.
Born in Loughrea, County Galway, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Bell Heavey.
Maureen was an extraordinarily faithful Christian and touched the lives of everyone she knew. She was a loving, kind wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devout member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Griffin and his wife, Renee; and James Griffin; four sisters, Winifred Heavey, Sr. Mary Christina, Sr. Thomas Marie, Colette Heavey; one brother, Thomas Heavey and his wife, Emer; four grandchildren, Joshua and Jeremy Black, Jacob Griffin, and Kristy Thompson; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Bertha Costello.
There will be a Recitation of the Rosary on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown followed by visitation until 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A reception will follow at the Woodlands at Furman from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
